Comparison

SphereSync vs Follow Up Boss: new leads, or the people who already know you?

The two products answer different questions. Follow Up Boss is built for teams converting a high volume of new and purchased leads. SphereSync is built for one agent working the relationships they already have. So the useful question is not which tool has more features — it is where your next closing actually comes from. Every Follow Up Boss figure below is taken from their own pages and dated.

    Verdict

Start with where your next closing comes from

If the answer is a lead you bought or captured this month, Follow Up Boss is the better fit, and we would rather say so than sell you the wrong thing. If the answer is a past client, a neighbour, or a referral from someone who already trusts you — and the real problem is that months go by without you contacting them — that is the job SphereSync was built for.

    • Follow Up Boss: lead capture from 200+ sources, rule-based distribution across a team, automated follow-up, saved-filter lists, and a built-in phone system. Priced per user.
    • SphereSync: one short weekly list of people in your own database to contact, plus the newsletters, market updates, and event invitations that go out in between. One agent, one flat membership.
    • Cost for a single agent: Follow Up Boss Grow is $69 per user per month; SphereSync is $349 a month, which includes the database cleaning, the marketing sends, and coaching.
    • The overlap is smaller than the shared category name suggests. Running one for new leads and the other for your sphere is a normal setup, not a contradiction.
    Who each one is for

Two different jobs. Pick the one that matches yours.

    Choose Follow Up Boss if…

    • You work new or purchased leads at volume, and time-to-first-contact is what decides your month. Lead import from 200+ sources and rule-based distribution are on every plan, including the cheapest.
    • You run a team, or employ ISAs. Lead routing, per-agent phone numbers with call logging and recording, and agent-activity reporting are all things SphereSync does not do.
    • You need integrations, a public API, or filtering workflows over a very large lead database. SphereSync offers none of the three.

    Choose SphereSync if…

    • Your business comes from repeat clients and referrals, and the honest problem is that months go by without you contacting anyone.
    • You already own a CRM you never open. SphereSync is not a filing cabinet you have to maintain — it hands you a short list every Monday and tells you why each person is on it.
    • You want the database work done for you. Sphere Snapshot is included: we clean, dedupe, and DNC-flag your entire database before day one.
    • You want the between-calls marketing handled — newsletters, monthly market updates, and client-event invitations going out in your name whether or not you have a spare minute.
    • You want coaching attached to the software, not bought separately: monthly group training with Pam O'Bryant comes with the membership.
    • You are one agent, or a team where every agent owns their own sphere rather than sharing a lead pool.
    Pricing

    Pricing, side by side

Follow Up Boss prices per user and bundles seats on the upper plans; SphereSync is one flat membership per agent. That makes a straight per-seat comparison misleading, so here are both, exactly as each of us publishes them.

    In plain English

The parts a table cannot hold.

What Follow Up Boss is built to do

Follow Up Boss is a lead-conversion system, and its feature set maps to that job. Leads import from 200+ sources, route to agents by rule — round-robin, first-to-claim, or by price band or ZIP — and are then worked by automations that fire when a lead arrives or a dormant one becomes active. Those capabilities are on every plan, including the $69-per-user Grow tier.

It also carries a phone system. Calling is included on Pro and Platform with per-agent numbers, call logging, and call recording; on Grow it is a $39-per-user-per-month add-on. Reporting is built around the same job: lead-source performance, agent performance, appointments set, with drill-down to the contacts behind each figure.

None of that is aimed at the problem SphereSync solves, and none of it is meant as criticism. If your week is measured in dials against new leads, this is the category of tool you want, and the comparison can reasonably end here.

What SphereSync does that a lead CRM does not

SphereSync starts from a different premise: that most agents are not short of leads, they are short of contact with the people who already trust them. Nothing in a lead-conversion CRM tells you that a past client from four years ago is due a call this week, because that person is not a lead and never triggered anything.

So the product is a rotation, not a funnel. Every Monday it hands you a short list — who to call, who to text, and why each person is up now — and you work down it. In between, the things that keep you top of mind get sent for you: the newsletter, the monthly market report for your ZIP codes, the client-event invitation. Before any of that starts, Sphere Snapshot cleans, dedupes, and DNC-flags the database you bring, which is usually the reason the last system was abandoned.

And there is a coach attached: monthly group training with Pam O'Bryant comes with the membership. That is a services business wrapped around software, which is a genuinely different product category from a CRM licence — and it is the honest explanation for the price gap.

    About that price gap

On raw software cost, Follow Up Boss is cheaper for a solo agent and it is not close: Grow is $69 per user per month, or $58 billed annually, against $349 a month for SphereSync. If what you want is a capable lead CRM at the lowest defensible price, that is the answer.

The comparison changes shape once you count what is inside the SphereSync number: the database cleaning and DNC work done for you, the newsletters and market reports produced and sent in your name, the event tooling, the monthly training. Agents who assemble that themselves are usually paying for a CRM plus an email tool plus a designer plus a coach, and still dropping half of it. Whether that bundle is worth $349 to you depends entirely on whether you would otherwise do those things — and the honest answer for some agents is that they would.

One thing worth saying plainly: these products can coexist. Running a lead CRM for new internet leads and SphereSync for your sphere is a normal setup, not a contradiction.

    Switching or adding

    Bringing your contacts to SphereSync

You do not have to leave anything to try SphereSync, and you do not have to do the import alone — though you can, in minutes, without talking to anyone.

    1. Export your contacts from whatever you use today as a CSV — Follow Up Boss, another CRM, your phone, a spreadsheet, or all four.
    2. Start the 14-day trial. No credit card, and nothing to book before you can look around.
    3. Import the CSV yourself, or book an onboarding call and we will do it with you and work out who actually matters — the people who would take your call.
    4. Sphere Snapshot runs: your list gets cleaned, deduped, and DNC-flagged before anyone gets contacted.
    5. Your first weekly list is built, and the rotation starts that Monday.

We deliberately do not publish step-by-step instructions for exporting from Follow Up Boss. Their help centre was not reachable to us when this page was written (26 July 2026), and walking you through screens we could not verify would be exactly the kind of stale, confident-sounding advice this page exists to avoid. Their support can tell you the current steps — and either way, we can do the import with you if you want the help.

    Fair questions

    Questions people ask before choosing.

Is SphereSync a replacement for Follow Up Boss?

Usually not. Follow Up Boss is a lead-conversion CRM built for teams working new leads at volume; SphereSync is a weekly contact rhythm for the database you already have. If you buy leads or run a team lead pool, Follow Up Boss does things SphereSync does not do at all, including lead routing and a built-in dialer.

    Which one is cheaper?

For a single agent, Follow Up Boss is cheaper: their Grow plan is $69 per user per month, or $58 per user per month billed annually, verified on their pricing page on 26 July 2026. SphereSync is $349 per month or $3,490 per year, which includes done-for-you database cleaning, newsletters and market reports sent in your name, event tools, and monthly group training.

Can I use both at the same time?

Yes, and some agents do. A lead-conversion CRM handles new internet leads while SphereSync handles the weekly rhythm with past clients and referral sources. They are solving different problems, so running both is not duplication.

Does SphereSync do lead routing or round-robin distribution for teams?

No. SphereSync is built around each agent owning their own sphere, so there is no shared lead pool to distribute. Follow Up Boss offers round robin, first-to-claim, and distribution by price or ZIP on all of its plans.

Does SphereSync have a built-in dialer or texting?

No dialer. You call and text from your own phone, and check the person off the week's list. Follow Up Boss includes two-way texting on all plans, and includes calling on its Pro and Platform plans, with calling available on Grow as a paid add-on at $39 per user per month.

How current are the Follow Up Boss details on this page?

Every Follow Up Boss figure on this page was read from Follow Up Boss's own website on 26 July 2026, and each one links the page it came from. We re-check them at least quarterly. Anything we could not verify on their own site is marked as unverified rather than guessed at.
